For far too long, the SLP community has ...1) aceeptance, inherent, unchangeable except in minor ways 2) viewing stuttering as an inherent.....Hello and welcome to StutteRevolution! I’m so glad you found your way here, it means that you’re serious about stopping stuttering* and creating the communication style and meaningful life you want. I love helping people discover and use their innate, natural ability to speak with ease, passion and joy.
*Stopping stuttering means not blocking, repeating or prolonging sounds or words in ways that appear “atypical,” stopping any secondary behaviors such as facial grimaces or undesirable non-communicative body movement, stopping the fear, thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, avoidance, and physiological responses such as tension or increased heart rate. It does NOT mean having perfect speech - we are human after all!

Why the name “StutteRevolution”?
Our world is based on our beliefs. Our beliefs about what is good or bad, possible or impossible, normal or not. Beliefs are, ultimately, judgements about ourselves, others and the world; we often have little idea about how we adopt closely held beliefs, let alone have awareness of them. When we become aware of a belief, we can choose to keep it or substitute it with another more suitable belief. Many PWS (People Who Stutter) conduct their lives based on their beliefs and identity as a PWS, which creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. A current cultural movement in the stuttering community advocates for stuttering with pride and acceptance. If that works for you, that's great! But if you have given up faith in your ability to speak with ease, and pride and acceptance are strategies for keeping you afloat, I offer hope and support for learning about how you have created and maintain your stuttering and how to use these insights for personal change and speaking with ease naturally. Along with the culture of today, pride and acceptance of stuttering likely have their origins in a strongly held belief that stuttering cannot be stopped due to it being neurophysiologically and genetically based.

However, I’m part of a revolution in thought, understanding, beliefs and support, based on neuroplasticity and epigenetics. In other words, science has demonstrated that our brains can evolve thanks to neuroplasticity and even if there’s a genetic basis for a behavior, epigenetics demonstrates that we can change the genetic expression. Our biology does not dictate our lives - our beliefs, thoughts and emotions determine our outcomes.
Countless people have learned to stop stuttering. They’ve changed how they view and relate to stuttering and no longer identify as a PWS. They don’t believe any of the thoughts that maintained their stuttering identity or system. They’ve evolved in their beliefs, emotions, physiological responses, intentions, perceptions, behaviors and in their lives. They’ve learned to create a new kind of reality for themselves. Hence, an Evolution Revolution. Come Join us!
